By accessing or using the Gotwork application ("Platform"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use, our Privacy Policy, and any additional guidelines or rules applicable to specific features of the Platform. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use the Platform.
These Terms constitute a legally binding agreement between you and BlackOak Limited (trading as "Gotwork"), ("we," "our," or "us"), a company incorporated under the laws of Nigeria.
Gotwork is a technology marketplace that connects clients with independent artisans and service providers. We act solely as an intermediary and do not employ, supervise, or control any artisan or service provider listed on the Platform.
We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. Material changes will be communicated via email and in-app notification at least fourteen (14) days before taking effect. Continued use of the Platform after the effective date of any changes constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms. If you do not agree with the revised Terms, you must discontinue use of the Platform.
By creating an account and using the Platform, you represent and warrant that:
Gotwork is primarily designed, developed, and operated for users located within the Federal Republic of Nigeria. The Platform's core features — including artisan identity verification (NIN via YouVerify), payment processing (Paystack in Nigerian Naira), and location-based artisan matching — are built around Nigerian infrastructure, regulations, and service providers.
Users accessing the Platform from outside Nigeria (including the European Union, United States, or other regions) may do so at their own discretion, but should be aware that:
By using the Platform from outside Nigeria, you acknowledge and accept that the service is primarily designed for Nigerian users and that your experience may differ accordingly. Gotwork makes no representations that the Platform is appropriate or available for use in any particular jurisdiction outside Nigeria.
Gotwork shall not be liable for any loss or damage arising from your failure to protect your account credentials. We reserve the right to suspend or disable accounts that we reasonably believe have been compromised.
All financial transactions on the Platform are processed exclusively through Paystack (Payments) Limited, a licensed Payment Service Provider regulated by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN). No other payment processor is used. Users agree to the following fee structure:
All labour payments for services rendered should be processed through the Platform's approved payment channels (Paystack card payment, cash, or direct bank transfer). Artisans are required to maintain accurate and up-to-date bank account details for payment settlement via Paystack subaccounts.
Gotwork reserves the right to modify its fee structure with reasonable notice. Any fee changes will be communicated via email and in-app notification at least fourteen (14) days before taking effect. Continued use of the Platform after such notice constitutes acceptance of the revised fees.
Booking fee refunds are processed to the client's Referral Rewards wallet when an artisan declines a request. For disputes regarding labour payments, users should use the Platform's built-in dispute resolution system (see Section 12).
All users agree to use the Platform responsibly and in compliance with applicable laws. The following conduct is strictly prohibited:
Users agree not to circumvent the Platform to avoid fees or undermine the integrity of the marketplace. Specifically, you shall not:
Violation of this non-circumvention policy may result in immediate account suspension or permanent ban, forfeiture of any outstanding balances, and legal action to recover lost commissions and damages. Gotwork reserves the right to monitor in-app communications using automated systems to detect and prevent circumvention attempts, in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
This Acceptable Use Policy ("AUP") governs how you may use the Gotwork Platform. All users -- clients, artisans, and visitors -- must comply with this AUP at all times. Violations may result in content removal, account suspension, permanent ban, and/or legal action.
You may not upload, post, share, or transmit any content that:

If you encounter any content or behaviour that violates this Acceptable Use Policy, please report it immediately through the in-app feedback system or by contacting us at support@gotwork.ng. We review all reports and take appropriate action, which may include content removal, warnings, temporary suspension, or permanent account termination.
Gotwork reserves the right to investigate suspected AUP violations and take any action we deem appropriate, including but not limited to:
The severity of enforcement action will be determined at our sole discretion, taking into account the nature and severity of the violation, the user's history, and the impact on other users and the Platform.
The Platform, including all source code, software, algorithms, databases, designs, graphics, user interfaces, logos, trademarks, service marks, trade names, and all other intellectual property embodied in or associated with Gotwork, is the exclusive property of BlackOak Limited (trading as "Gotwork") and is protected by Nigerian copyright law, the Trademarks Act (Cap. No part of the Platform may be copied, reproduced, modified, distributed, republished, downloaded, displayed, posted, transmitted, or sold in any form or by any means without the prior written consent of BlackOak Limited.
By uploading, posting, or submitting any content to the Platform -- including but not limited to profile photographs, portfolio images, job descriptions, reviews, and messages -- you grant Gotwork a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free, transferable, sub-licensable licence to use, reproduce, modify, adapt, publish, display, and distribute such content for the following purposes:
This licence survives termination of your account. You represent and warrant that you own or have obtained all necessary rights, consents, and permissions to grant this licence, and that your content does not infringe upon the intellectual property rights or privacy rights of any third party.
You may request removal of specific content from active marketing materials by contacting us at support@gotwork.ng. We will make commercially reasonable efforts to comply with such requests within thirty (30) days, though content already distributed in third-party channels may remain in circulation.
Any feedback, suggestions, ideas, or improvements you voluntarily provide regarding the Platform shall become the exclusive property of BlackOak Limited. You hereby irrevocably assign all rights in such feedback to us without any obligation of compensation or attribution.
The Platform integrates with and relies upon the following third-party service providers to deliver its core functionality:
Your use of the Platform may be subject to the terms and conditions of these third-party providers. Gotwork is not responsible for the availability, accuracy, content, or policies of any third-party services. We do not endorse and shall not be liable for any damage or loss caused by your reliance on or use of any third-party service.
THE PLATFORM IS PROVIDED ON AN "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" BASIS, WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS, IMPLIED, OR STATUTORY. TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, GOTWORK.NG EXPRESSLY DISCLAIMS ALL WARRANTIES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO:
All artisans, service providers, and technicians listed on the Platform are independent contractors operating their own businesses. Gotwork does not employ, supervise, direct, or control any artisan or service provider, and maintains no employment, agency, partnership, or joint venture relationship with any individual, person, or company engaged through the Platform.
Users acknowledge that any engagement of services through Gotwork is undertaken at their own discretion and risk. Gotwork acts solely as an intermediary platform and assumes no responsibility or liability for the acts, omissions, conduct, quality of work, or representations of any artisan or service provider.
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, IN NO EVENT SHALL GOTWORK.NG, ITS OFFICERS, DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, AGENTS, OR AFFILIATES BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, PUNITIVE, OR EXEMPLARY DAMAGES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO DAMAGES FOR LOSS OF PROFITS, GOODWILL, USE, DATA, OR OTHER INTANGIBLE LOSSES, ARISING OUT OF OR IN CONNECTION WITH YOUR USE OF OR INABILITY TO USE THE PLATFORM.
In no event shall Gotwork's total aggregate liability to you for all claims arising out of or relating to these Terms or your use of the Platform exceed the greater of: (a) the total fees you have paid to Gotwork in the twelve (12) months preceding the claim; or (b) ₦50,000 (fifty thousand Naira).
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Gotwork, Blackoak, and their respective officers, directors, employees, agents, affiliates, successors, and assigns (collectively, the "Indemnified Parties") from and against any and all claims, demands, actions, damages, losses, liabilities, costs, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees and court costs) arising out of or in connection with:
This indemnification obligation shall survive termination of your account and these Terms. Gotwork reserves the right, at its own expense, to assume the exclusive defence and control of any matter subject to indemnification by you, in which event you agree to cooperate fully with our defence of such claim.
Disputes between clients and artisans regarding service quality, payment, or booking issues should first be reported through the Platform's built-in dispute resolution system. Our support team will review reported disputes and may facilitate refunds or other remedies as appropriate.
Any dispute, controversy, or claim arising out of or relating to these Terms, or the breach, termination, or invalidity thereof, that cannot be resolved through the Platform's internal dispute process shall first be submitted to private mediation in Lagos, Nigeria. The mediation shall be:
If mediation fails to resolve the dispute within sixty (60) days, the dispute shall be referred to and finally resolved by binding arbitration conducted in Lagos, Nigeria, in accordance with the Arbitration and Mediation Act 2023 of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. The arbitral tribunal shall consist of a single arbitrator appointed by mutual agreement, or failing agreement, by the Lagos Court of Arbitration. The arbitral award shall be final, binding, and enforceable in any court of competent jurisdiction.
No party may commence court proceedings in relation to any dispute arising out of these Terms until it has attempted to resolve the dispute through the mediation and arbitration process described above, except where a party seeks urgent injunctive or interlocutory relief to prevent irreparable harm.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, all disputes shall be resolved on an individual basis. You agree to waive any right to participate in a class action, collective action, or representative proceeding against Gotwork.
Gotwork reserves the right to suspend, restrict, or permanently terminate your account and access to the Platform at any time, with or without prior notice, for any of the following reasons:
You may terminate your account at any time by contacting us at support@gotwork.ng or through the account settings in the app. Upon voluntary termination, your profile will be deactivated and personal data handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
Gotwork shall not be liable for any failure or delay in performing its obligations under these Terms where such failure or delay results from circumstances beyond our reasonable control, including but not limited to:
In the event of a force majeure occurrence, our obligations shall be suspended for the duration of such event. We will make commercially reasonable efforts to notify affected users and resume normal operations as soon as practicable.
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, including the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Act (FCCPA) 2018, the Nigeria Data Protection Act (NDPA) 2023, and all other applicable federal and state legislation, without regard to conflict of law principles.
If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid, illegal, or unenforceable by a court of competent jurisdiction, such invalidity, illegality, or unenforceability shall not affect any other provision of these Terms, and the remaining provisions shall continue in full force and effect. The invalid provision shall be modified to the minimum extent necessary to make it valid and enforceable while preserving its original intent.
These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy and any other policies or guidelines referenced herein, constitute the entire agreement between you and Gotwork with respect to your use of the Platform. These Terms supersede all prior or contemporaneous agreements, understandings, negotiations, representations, and warranties, whether written or oral, relating to the subject matter hereof.
No failure or delay by Gotwork in exercising any right, power, or remedy under these Terms shall operate as a waiver thereof. No single or partial exercise of any right, power, or remedy shall preclude any other or further exercise of that or any other right, power, or remedy.
You may not assign or transfer your rights or obligations under these Terms without the prior written consent of Gotwork. We may freely assign our rights and obligations under these Terms to any affiliate, successor, or acquirer of all or substantially all of our business or assets, without notice to you.
All legal notices to Gotwork must be sent in writing to legal@gotwork.ng. Notices to you will be sent to the email address associated with your account or through in-app notifications.
