What is Gotwork?

Gotwork is a mobile-first marketplace that connects clients with verified artisans and skilled workers across Nigeria. Think of it as your go-to app for finding trusted plumbers, electricians, carpenters, painters, tilers, and many more professionals in your local community.

Is Gotwork available nationwide?

We are currently focused on major cities and urban areas across Nigeria, starting with Lagos. As our network of verified artisans grows, we are expanding to more communities. If there are no artisans in your area yet, you can still sign up -- we will notify you as soon as professionals become available near you.

How do I download the app?

Gotwork is available on Android via the Google Play Store and on iOS via the App Store. You can also visit www.gotwork.ng for more information.

For Clients
How do I know the artisans on Gotwork are professional?

Every artisan on our platform undergoes a mandatory identity verification process and biometric matching. We also feature a "Verified" badge for those who have completed our full background check and maintain high customer ratings.

Is my payment secure?

Yes. All payments are processed through Paystack, a Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) licensed provider. When you book, your payment is held securely. We only settle the labour fee to the artisan's account once the job is confirmed or the service is delivered.

What is the ₦500 booking fee for?

The booking fee covers the platform's administrative costs, ensures the artisan's commitment to your request, and allows us to maintain the high-security standards of the marketplace.

What happens if I'm not satisfied with the work?

Gotwork has a built-in dispute resolution system. If a job isn't completed to the agreed standard, you can "Raise a Dispute" within the app. Our support team will review the case, photos, and chat logs to facilitate a fair resolution or refund.

Can I hire an artisan for a job outside of my current location?

Our search defaults to a 5km radius to ensure speed and low transport costs. However, you can expand your search to 30km if you need a specialised technician not available in your immediate neighbourhood.

Do I pay the artisan in cash?

For your security and to maintain your Gotwork Guarantee, we strongly recommend paying through the app. Off-platform payments are not protected by our dispute resolution policy and may lead to account suspension.

For Artisans
How do I get more jobs on the platform?

Maintain a high rating and complete your profile with high-quality portfolio images. Artisans with the "Verified" badge and "Gotwork Guarantee" status are prioritised in client search results.

When do I receive my money after a job?

Once the client confirms the job is complete, the funds are automatically settled into your registered bank account. Settlement is typically instant or happens within 24 hours depending on your bank.

What if a client refuses to pay after I've done the work?

If a client unfairly withholds payment, our dispute team uses your chat logs and uploaded "Proof of Work" photos to ensure you are compensated.

Does Gotwork provide tools or materials?

No. Gotwork is an intermediary platform. Artisans are independent contractors and are expected to provide their own professional tools and negotiate material costs directly with the client.

Can I share my phone number in the chat?

To protect the integrity of the marketplace, sharing contact details before a booking is confirmed is prohibited. Once a client pays the booking fee, your contact details are shared so you can coordinate the visit.

Safety & Privacy
How is my personal data protected?

We take data privacy seriously and comply with the Nigeria Data Protection Act (NDPA) and the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Act (FCCPA). Your data is stored securely, encrypted in transit and at rest. We never share your personal information with third parties for marketing purposes. For full details, see our Privacy Policy.

Can I delete my account and data?

Yes. You can request a full export of your data (in JSON format) or request account deletion at any time through the app's Data Privacy settings or by contacting us at privacy@gotwork.ng. We process deletion requests in line with our data retention policy.

Is there an age requirement?

Yes. You must be at least 18 years old to use Gotwork, whether as a client or an artisan. For artisans, this is enforced through NIN verification which checks your date of birth against government records.

How long does dispute resolution take?

We aim to acknowledge all disputes within 24 hours and resolve them within 3-5 business days, depending on the complexity of the case. Both parties are kept informed throughout the process.
